Kara Owens
Kara is an insurance veteran with experience in a number of P&C product lines including cyber, professional and management liability, EPLI, crime/fidelity, product recall, kidnap & ransom, property, general liability, auto, and workers compensation. Her current expertise is cyber risk. She has experience on both the underwriting and broking sides of (re)insurance and is a frequent speaker at industry and technology events as well as at universities.
Steve Bernardez
Steve is an established Partner at Avanta Ventures with areas of focus in Mobility, InsurTech, AI, IoT/Connected Home and distributed ledger technology. Prior to Avanta Ventures, Steve was a Partner at ONSET Ventures focusing on early-stage B2B software in the enterprise SaaS application, AI/analytics, and cybersecurity spaces. Over his twelve years with ONSET, Steve worked at the board level alongside passionate entrepreneurs at over twenty startups, helping to craft lasting business models, forge strategic partnerships, and exit profitably.
