New! Review your book of business for cyber risk

by | May 25, 2022 | Innovation

The cyber risk exposures of any enterprise are always evolving: new cyber threats, evolving digital footprint, new systems, and new or departing employees, are all contributing to a constant state of change for cyber. While Cowbell Factors provide a continuously updated benchmark of an individual organization against our risk pool of 24 million U.S. small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) which represents about 75% of the U.S. market, Cowbell Cyber Risk Heatmap enables all of our insurance partners to view cyber risk ratings for the group of accounts they have purview over.

What the heatmap looks like

How to use the heatmap – identify clients that need help

The eight Cowbell Factors plus the company aggregate factor are in rows; the columns are industries at the two-digit NAICS level (see full description below in the Appendix). Boxes in light or dark green correspond to security areas where the portfolio is performing well, while the boxes in red or dark red correspond to high-risk areas with low Cowbell Factors.

For example, in the portfolio above, Healthcare accounts (2-digit NAICS code: 62) are red for Dark Intelligence. Action should be taken with those accounts to review their exposure on the Darkweb.

How to access the Cyber Risk Heatmap for your book of business

First, you have to log in to the Cowbell Platform.

  1. On the left menu, click on the “Accounts” option
  2. On the top, click on the “Risk” tab

Filter on state and other parameters

You can then explore the filtering capabilities to visualize the heatmap for any slice of the risk portfolio, for example:

  • Zoom on accounts that have more risk exposure for the cloud
  • Compare the part of the portfolio that has an active policy with Cowbell versus those that don’t.
  • Dive into different states in your portfolio or different teams in your agency.
