What’s a better way to celebrate my 1 year anniversary at Cowbell Cyber, than being recognized by my peers in an industry I fell in love with 12 years ago?
I am truly honored and humbled by the opportunity to be recognized as one of Insurance Business America’s Elite Women 2022.
I have spent the last 12 years of my career working tirelessly to help diversify the male-dominated industry of insurance. Everything I’ve done within my career has been very strategic, from consulting on diversity, leading an all-women agency of single moms, a broker for a top 4 consulting firm, and now leading agency engagement efforts in my role as Director of Agency Marketing at Cowbell.
I have always believed in going where ever my license would take me in my insurance career. It’s been a very fun, sometimes challenging, yet unique insurance career path that has shaped me into who I am in this industry.
I am forever grateful to all of my “personal board of directors” a.k.a. industry mentors who have helped me or given me advice throughout the years. I’m also grateful to the insurance companies that gave me a chance when I relocated from Alabama with only 25 people in my natural market, allowing me to build a thriving agency off of pure relationship building.
As women, it is our unique level of understanding of all of the various insurance products that makes our strategy and sales pitches stand out. The real-life examples that we give during our meetings with clients, make the insurance products more valuable for them. This is a skill that can’t be taught.
I hope to continue encouraging women to consider a career in insurance. Forget seats, I vow to keep bringing “the table” to more women and also women of color in this industry.
Joining this industry changed the entire trajectory of my career and life. I am forever grateful for those who gave me the opportunity to live out my dream career in color.
