From Startup to Global Enterprise: Reflections from a CPO

by | May 8, 2025 | Uncategorized

After four rewarding years, I’ve made the difficult decision to step down from my role as Chief People Officer at Cowbell. These past weeks have given me a chance to look back on the milestones we reached, the incredible teams we formed, and the achievements that have shaped our journey to this point.

When I joined Cowbell, it was a 50-person startup based in the U.S. Over the years, I had the privilege of helping the company grow to more than 250 employees across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and India. This period of extraordinary growth transformed Cowbell from a scrappy early-stage startup into a respected global organization. Today, we’re honored to rank #3 on the FT’s list of Fastest Growing Companies in America and #13 on the Inc. 5000 list (with the #1 spot in the Insurance category).

During my time at Cowbell, I had the opportunity to build our People function from the ground up, supporting the company’s evolution from Series A to Series C, international expansion, the launch of new insurance lines, and, most recently, our foray into cybersecurity services. Among all these accomplishments, I’m especially proud of building and scaling Cowbell’s comprehensive people systems—from recruiting top talent and embedding them into our culture, to fostering their growth and retention over time.

One of the highlights of my journey has been assembling an exceptional People team to continue this work. I am excited to share that Tiffany Ayala will now lead this team as Vice President and Head of Employee Success. With the strong foundation we’ve built together, I leave confident that Cowbell’s future is bright and that the team will continue to thrive and evolve.

As I step into this next phase, I’m excited to remain a shareholder and cheer on the team as they write Cowbell’s next chapter.

Thank you to everyone who was part of this incredible journey—I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
